David Weir is a British Paralympic wheelchair athlete, winner of six Paralympic gold medals, six World Championship gold medals and eight London Marathons to date. Weir is currently the country's most successful wheelchair athlete and one of the highest profile Paralympians who has inspired the nation through his performances.

David won a total of six gold medals at the 2008 and four gold at the 2012 Paralympic Games, the 5000m, 1500m, the 800m and the marathon. He is the current British record holder of the distances up to 5000m as well as the road at 10Km, half marathon and marathons. In addition to David's accomplished Paralympic career, he has won the London Marathon six times, competed in numerous World and European Championships. He has been named one of the best wheelchair athletes in the world and received the Sports Journalist Association's Disabled Sports Personality of the Year in 2006.
