Lionel Barber was the Editor of the Financial Times (2005-2020) was the Editor of the Financial Times from 2005-2020. Under his editorship, the paper won three 'Newspaper of the Year' awards, transformed the newsroom into a world class digital-first operation. He is now an investor and senior advisor of a newspaper called the New European.

With his experience in the journalism sector, Lionel has also been fortunate to co-write a number of books. Alongside writing and journalism, Lionel has also forged a career as a public speaker. He is known to lecture in subjects such as foreign policies, Europe and international relations. In 2021, Lionel Barber was appointed Chairman of the Wincott Foundation. In 2009 he was awarded the St George Society medal of honour in reward for contributions to the transatlantic community via journalism. He makes regular appearances on TV and Radio and has interviewed several high-profile individuals including US President Barack Obama, President Vladimir Putin, Chancellor Angela Merkel and President Hassan Rouhani.
