Orhan Pamuk studied architecture at the Istanbul Technical University before leaving to become a full-time writer. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in October 2006, becoming the first Turkish person to receive a Nobel Prize. Orhan was ranked no 4 among “the most influential voices of 2015” by The WorldPost and the Zurich-based Gottlieb Duttweiler Institute and in 2017 he has received a doctorate from the Accademia di Bella Arti di Brera (Italy) and the Literary Flame Prize from Montenegro. He was also awarded honorary doctorates from the University of Crete in 2018 and from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland, in 2023.
